How to Avoid Fake T@n Disasters

James Harknett gives you his top tips

James Harknett, the brand ambassador for fake my t@n, has put together some top tips to help you avoid the three biggest tanning mistakes!

Streaking

This is caused by not applying tanning product all over the skin, basically missing areas, which is easy to do if your product does not have a colour guide. Applying too much moisturiser to knees can also cause streaking as it thins out the tanning product leaving diluted streaks down to the ankle.

How to Avoid It

With fake my t@n, the problem of missing areas is eradicated, as it has the perfect application colour. To avoid streaks due to over-moisturising I recommend applying moisturiser sparingly to dry areas, such as knees and elbows.

Wrists

Most people give themselves a tan cuff, which is done by applying product all the way down the arm to the base of the palm. This leaves a very unnatural finish, and is a huge fake tan giveaway!

How to Avoid It

Moisturise the base of your palms using a semi-circular motion. This way the tan will blend into it, leaving a seamless finish.

Hairline

As seen on SJP at the 2010 Oscars, a lot of people forget to fade their tan into their hairline. They do one of two things — either have a dark colour starting at the hairline, or they finish the tan a centimetre away from the hairline.

How to Avoid It

Using your little finger, apply a pea size amount of moisturiser to the hairline. fake my t@n will then blend naturally. If necessary, re-apply the moisturiser after putting on the tan. Also another tanning tip is to always clean your teeth before application, avoiding a white line around the mouth!
