Celebrity Scissorhands

For Children in Need

The Experts

Some of the best in beauty and hair care are with me this year, along with an eager return from one of last years trainees!

The Experts:

Steven Strange – Assistant Manager

Welsh born Steve is famed for being a pioneer of the New Romantic movement and has become a British cultural icon. Steve arrived in London from his native Wales in the 1970’s and soon began working for music impresario Malcolm McClaren. In 1978 he formed the band Visage who two years later scored global success with Fade To Grey, which reached Number One in over 13 countries. Tales of his extraordinary life were published in his best selling autobiography, Blitzed and he was even immortalised on stage in Boy George’s successful musical, Taboo.

Steve started as a humble trainee last year and became the unexpected star of Celebrity Scissorhands, wowing clients with his unique hair creations and breaking a Guinness World Record!

Lindsey Hunter – Beautician

Lindsey trained at the prestigious Yorkshire College of Beauty and has gone on to bea part-time lecturer there. She also has her own salon where nail treatments are the speciality.

Lindsey is the wife of the late Snooker legend Paul Hunter – who won a great many major tournaments and the Embassy Master World Championship three times. Unfortunately, Paul was diagnosed with cancer in 2004, and tragically passed away in 2006. Lindsey now travels the world on behalf of the charity she founded in memory of Paul, as well as run her own beauty business which she says her beauty therapy work helps her relax.

Lindsey comments: I’m sure none of the celebrity trainees have ever touched the hard skin on anyone’s feet before, so I am very much looking forward to seeing how they will cope with that!

Errol Douglas – Afro and European Hairdresser

Errol Douglas is renowned for creating signature cuts and stunning collections for both Afro/Caribbean and European hair. Errol’s hairdressing career began at the age of 11 when he started work in an East End salon. After gaining his qualifications he worked at a number of top London establishments, before setting up his own busy salon in the summer of 1998. Throughout his 28 years of working in haircare Errol has earned a number of awards for his work, twice named Afro Hairdresser of the Year at the British Hairdressing Awards and has been crowned Honorary Ambassador for the Hairdressing Council in addition to winning the Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year. This year he received his tenth nomination for the highest accolade of all — British Hairdresser of the Year.
